Fiber Optic Lights in Colorado Convention Center Ballroom

The Colorado Convention Center is located in Denver, the capital of Colorado, and cost 260 million in December 2004.It completed its expansion project with US$180,000 and became the fifteenth largest convention center in the United States. More than 100 national convention planners were involved in this impeccable 292,000-square-foot expansion.

The project includes a brand new 50,000 square foot multipurpose ballroom. The sunken ballroom is divided into 18 different venues with hundreds of different exterior designs. The highlight is the color-changing fiber optic lighting built into the ballroom ceiling. 4540 Swarovski teardrop crystal tubes sparkle with 72 self-mixing fiber optic lights and premium fiber optic cables.

The ceiling of the ballroom is divided into 42 circular areas, and fiber optic lights are installed at the edges of these areas, about 1 to 2 per area. Each zone has a separate control system, which means that each zone can operate independently. The lights throughout the ballroom can change color continuously from the center to the periphery.

A week before the official opening of the ballroom, more than 800 industry insiders gathered to celebrate the opening night of the Denver Tourism Information Service Center. The celebration is hosted by Impact Productions in Denver. Under the spotlight was the brand new 50,000-square-foot stage with its lighting system and star fiber-optic ceiling lights filled with fiber-optic tubes. Working together with the conference center and the engineering team was Denver International Service Production Company, which set up colorful stage scenes and lighting changes for the celebration, pushing the warm atmosphere of the celebration to a climax.
